Testosterone Enanthate

Long-acting testosterone ester providing stable serum levels over 7-10 days.

Testosterone Enanthate

Testosterone Enanthate is a sterile oil-based injectable preparation of testosterone esterified with enanthic acid, presented at 250 milligrams per millilitre in a 10 mL multiple dose vial. The seven-carbon ester places it among the long-acting testosterone preparations and makes it one of the most widely characterised injectable androgens in clinical use.

Structural Profile

The compound is the 17-beta heptanoate ester of testosterone, with the molecular formula C26H40O3 and a molar mass of 400.60 g/mol, registered under CAS number 315-37-7. The ester bond is cleaved by plasma esterases after release from the intramuscular depot, liberating testosterone identical to the endogenous hormone.

Esterification and Release

The seven-carbon enanthate chain confers substantially greater lipophilicity than the short propionate ester, slowing partition out of the oil depot and extending the release phase over several days. The result is a flatter serum curve and a longer interval between administrations than short-acting esters permit.

Pharmacokinetic Profile

The elimination half-life is approximately 4.5 days. Serum concentrations peak within 24 to 48 hours of intramuscular administration and decline gradually over the following week, producing stable levels over a 7 to 10 day interval. The urinary detection window for metabolites extends to approximately 3 months, reflecting prolonged depot release rather than slow metabolism of the parent hormone.

Mechanism of Action

Liberated testosterone binds the cytoplasmic androgen receptor; the hormone-receptor complex translocates to the nucleus and engages androgen response elements on target DNA, upregulating transcription of genes controlling structural protein synthesis and nitrogen retention in skeletal muscle. Aromatase converts a proportion of circulating testosterone to oestradiol, while 5-alpha reductase yields dihydrotestosterone in androgen-sensitive tissue.

Manufacturing and Sterility

Each production lot is released against the complete pharmaceutical testing protocol: HPLC identity confirmation and purity analysis with a specification of not less than 98 percent, verification of concentration against label claim within 5 percent, sterility testing in accordance with USP <71>, bacterial endotoxin quantification by LAL assay below 0.25 EU/mL, and particulate matter inspection in accordance with USP <788>. A Certificate of Analysis is issued for every lot.

Quality Assurance

Every batch of Testosterone Enanthate produced by Biomedica undergoes the complete pharmaceutical release testing protocol before distribution. This includes HPLC compound identity confirmation and purity analysis (specification: ≥98%), concentration verification (specification: ±5% of label claim), sterility testing per USP <71>, bacterial endotoxin quantification by LAL assay (specification: <0.25 EU/mL), and particulate matter inspection per USP <788>. A Certificate of Analysis is issued for every production lot.
